各个同事最近对地震颇有恐慌。昨天盛传的地震谣言，在事实的证明下成为了一个不折不扣的谣言。但很多同事还是担心余震的威力，早早请假回家，有些幼稚园、小学也提前放假。其实即使发生地震，只要您对您的房屋有信心。在了解震级和烈度的关系后，可以放心从容的呆在家里。房屋不倒，您说人会有大事情吗？
一般震中烈度和震级有如下的对应关系，地震烈度，即地震发生时，在波及范围内一定地点地面振动的激烈程度。（或释为地震影响和破坏的程度）。地面振动的强弱直接影响到人的感觉的强弱，器物反应的程度，房屋的损坏或破坏程度，地面景观的变化情况等。因此烈度的鉴定主要依靠对上述几个方面的宏观考察和定性描述。震级代表地震本身的大小强弱，它由震源发出的地震波能量来决定，对于同一次地震只应有一个数值。烈度在同一次地震中是因地而异的，它受着当地各种自然和人为条件的影响。对震级相同的地震来说，如果震源越浅，震中距越短，则烈度一般就越高。同样，当地的地质构造是否稳定，土壤结构是否坚实，房屋和其他构筑物是否坚固耐震，对于当地的烈度高或低有着直接的关系。（影响一地地震烈度的五要素：震级、震源深度、震中距、地质结构、建筑物）。

9	6.7	建筑物普遍破坏－房屋大多数破坏，少数倾倒，牌坊，烟囱等崩塌，铁轨弯曲
10	7.3	建筑物普遍摧毁－房屋倾倒，道路毁坏，山石大量崩塌，水面大浪扑岸
11	7.9	毁灭－房屋大量倒塌，路基堤岸大段崩毁，地表产生很大变化
12	8.5	山川易景－一切建筑物普遍毁坏，地形剧烈变化动植物遭毁灭

国家规定的抗震建设标准是按照7度烈度来设防的。这次地震的烈度达到10-11度，大大超出了规定的建筑抗震设防标准，特别是临近震中的房屋，绝大部分都会倒塌。因为不是最中心地震，自我感觉地震当时，地震烈度为6度（器皿倾倒，房屋轻微损坏），但地震的感受度应该是五级多接近六级的感受。

Word 2007对设置样式这块有了一些变动。其中引入了一种新的样式类型：“链接段落和字符”。在中文各大网站，鲜有人回答或知道具体这是一个什么样式类型。于是只有往更加专业的英文技术站点搜寻。功夫不负有心人，在英文站点，一批非常专业的微软 MVP，准确和快速地解答了这个疑惑！

Creating a linked style as a new Quick Style shouldn't cause you any problems.

A linked style is a hybrid of a paragraph style and a character style; it is marked by a pilcrow followed by an "a" in the Styles task pane. Many built-in styles in Word 2007 Quick Style sets are linked styles including all 9
heading styles, Quote, Title, Subtitle, etc.

If a linked style is applied to a selection that is less than an entire paragraph, the selected text will take on the font formatting of the linked style but the paragraph style applied to the paragraph will remain unchanged. In so doing a hidden character style in the form “linked style name char” is created; this character style does not appear in the Styles task pane or the Style Inspector but does appear in the Reveal Formatting task pane.

One common use of linked styles (all heading styles are linked styles) is to apply a heading style to the *beginning* word(s) in a paragraph; doing this not only applies the font formatting from the heading style but also tags the selected text so that it can appear in a table of contents (References tab, Table of Contents group, Table of Contents); the tagging only works on the beginning words in a paragraph.

To change formatting of the text to which this type of character style has been applied, you must select the text and either apply a different true paragraph style such as the Normal style to the selected text or simply press CTRL+SPACEBAR (removes the font formatting).

If applied to a selection greater than an entire paragraph, both font formatting settings and paragraph formatting setting will be applied from the style and the linked style will replace the previous paragraph style in all wholly or partially selected paragraphs.

If no text is selected and a linked style is applied to a paragraph, the linked style will function just like a paragraph style and will replace the previous paragraph style (or linked style).

To disable the linking feature of linked styles, thereby making them function as paragraph styles, check the Disable Linked Styles check box in the Styles task pane (Home tab, Styles group, Styles Dialog Box Launcher); disabling the feature removes the likelihood that you will inadvertently apply font formatting to selected text when you intended to apply the paragraph style (actually the linked style) to the entire paragraph.

自从5月12日大地震后，几乎每天都要经历余震的折磨。从最开始的恐慌，到后来慢慢已感觉到了习惯。每天多次的余震就像乘坐在大海上的船只。摇……摇……。在这过程中，很多人还是恐慌的，传言也没有停止。自己虽然很冷静，但一点风吹草动，周围的人就可能变得慌乱。在这关键之际，同事的一封电邮也验证了自己的地震的判断。

Earthquake information

Hello everyone

It is obvious that there is still a lot of nervousness about the current situation. I think some of that occurs thru not being fully knowledgeable about circumstances surrounding an earthquake and also by the number of differing rumours that fly around in a time like this.
These are uncertain times; nobody can guarantee that there will not be other earthquake. Let me share with you my knowledge and experience. I lived for 6 years in Los Angeles USA this city is right on top of one of the most active fault lines in the world – the San Andreas fault. Living with minor and major quakes was a way of life - one occurred every month. To a certain extent having lots of minors was considered better because we knew it would relieve that pressure and stop it building to a point a major quake would occur. So here actually it is better if there are a lot of minor aftershakes to settle everything down. – Yes it’s uncomfortable but it is better.

Let’s also talk about Earthquakes
•   They are very destructive and despite all the scientific testing, measuring and monitoring its impossible to predict accurately the occurrence, sometimes they can say there is an increased likely hood of a quake along a fault line but where the epicentre would be and how big cannot today be determined ( despite what would might be hearing to the contrary)
•   Once their has been a major quake like we had, no aftershock has ever been as great
•   Aftershocks will probably occur for several months.
•   Earthquakes are measured on the Richter scale – this is a logarithmic scale – what does the mean? Here is an example – Our earthquake here was a 7.9 or 8.0 on the Richter scale the after shock on Friday was around 5.9 that means it was 100 times LESS strong That is why it was felt here as only a minor tremor. Each whole number equates to Ten times
•   So the like hood of aftershocks causing any real damage in this city is very remote – we are over 100KMS away and the size is much much smaller that the original one which we all survived as did our building that we work in.

We are also developing an evacuation plan which will be circulated today so that should we need to do so we know how, where to evaluate to and what is expected of us. Your BMT manager will run thru the plan with you.

■　地震的破坏性真的很大，即使是进行了很多的科学测试、测量及监控，我们也不可能准确地预测地震的发生。有时，科学家可能预测到地震发生在哪个断裂带上，但是震中和震级在今天来说确是无法确定的。
■　一旦发生了如我们所经历过的强烈地震，以后的余震是不会更强的
■　余震很可能会持续几个月
■　地震震级以里克特计算——这是一种对数的等级—这是什么意思呢？有一个例子，我们这次的地震震级为7.9或8.0里克特，周五的余震为5.9级，也就是说震动程度减弱了100倍，这就是为什么在这里感觉到的是只是轻微的晃动。每一个完整级别相当于10倍。
■　因此，余震对我们的城市造成真正破坏的可能性真的不大——我们距离震中有100公里，而且震级比原来我们已经过的地震小很多，而且那时候我们和这栋大楼也都没有受到损害。
